What I like to think sets us apart from other car blogs is that here on CanIBeat we are creating a great network of photographers across the country. Most of which can’t stay away from CanIBeat and are continually updating us with their new and inspiring photoshoots. This is certainly true with Adrian Figueroa. Adrian was introduced into the drift scene in Tucson by his buddy Malcolm Flowers (which also happens to be a photographer ) and he’s been hooked ever since. One of the first cars that came to his mind was a crazy, straight outta Japan, ’95 Toyota Mark II driven by the Pro Am Drifter Ben Kunk. Ben Kunk, he told us is pretty much at the top of the skill game down in AZ if not the Southwest in general. Recently visited by the Chicago-based drift team “Risky Devils”, Ben is obviously a known name through the US too. Adrian got to shoot his e85 fueled, caged, DAILY(!!!) drift machine. You don’t see too many of these around.
As seen in the pictures Ben is fitting his new wheels to his liking. The turbo’ed and tuned 1JZ turns the GramLight 57s (18×9.5 +20/+12) to burn the 245/40 in the back around those cones. His future plans are nothing to laugh at. How about a GT3582R tuned to a “minimum of 500hp”. While he’s waiting for the power, the Mark II will be equipped with a new aero kit straight from Japan. Also in the works he’s putting the full interior back in. Ben said he wants to “maintain a car that can be competed in but still very livable on the streets with a/c and a comfy interior.” With the Formula D’s Extreme Drift Championship right around the corner he looks forward to showing her some “wall love.” Much to our relief Adrian says, “You can bet your asses you will see this RHD JDM machine again!” We look forward to it! Thanks for the awesome photos as always. beat on.
